Summer News

It was a different kind of summer for me. Some of you may know that I had a complete knee replacement operation in July. I was out of work for almost 6 weeks. The operation was successful yet the recovery has been challenging. I had an unbelievably hard time with pain medication. I did lots of icing and physical therapy. I am on the other side of that now. I have been back to work for several weeks and enjoying it.

My daughter and granddaughter from New York with their dog (a brother dog to my Neesa) visited for over two weeks. The dogs are extremely compatible and had a ball romping around and chasing each other. Their visit helped distract me from my pain and discomfort, plus they helped out a lot. I couldn't drive for 5 weeks.

However, as a result of being pre-occupied with my recovery, I did not schedule the usual Sunday afternoon FREE workshops at Crazy Wisdom Bookstore. Some of you have already expressed disappointment about that. Check Carole's Winter Newsletter in January for winter offerings. You can also visit my website to see my current schedule.

"Smart Date Night" for Couples

Gary Brainerd, an Imago therapist from Pasadena, CA, is a colleague, workshop presenter, and consummate "techie" who has created on-line programs to help couples better understand each other and stay more connected. This up-coming seminar is to get couples to focus on the positive and become sources of pleasure for each other.

His most recent creation is "Smart Date Night" for Couples, How to Guard Against Relationship Malnourishment. The next seminar is Saturday, Sept. 26 at 6 PM and the theme for this "Date Night" program is "How do I love thee, let me count the ways". If you can't make Sept. 26, the Seminar will be available to you for two weeks after the Live Seminar, so you will have another chance to listen to Gary's presentation and to do the preparatory work and then have your date.

Check his website for more information and for the next "Smart Date Night" offering. You can also speak with Carole 734-424-2797 if you have questions or concerns. Likewise, you can call Gary 626-577-2628 or email him at garybrainerd@relationship-help.com.

What is a "Smart Date Night"
A "CouplesGarden" Smart Date Night is a date night with a twist. It's a regular dinner date in the sense that you will make reservations for dinner at your favorite restaurant and plan to spend an evening of enjoyment, pleasure, and fun together.

It will be what we call a "smart" date night, because you will be availing yourselves of valuable information about the care and nurturance of relationships and you will be developing skills in how to care and nurture.

How It Works
1.   A week before the Seminar each partner will get a private email with suggestions on how to make your "Date Night" fun, surprising, and memorable.

2. During the Seminar, Dr. Brainerd will present "How do I love thee? It is a pre-recorded presentation that you will listen to together.

3. During the Seminar you will receive by email a worksheet of communication suggestions focusing on discussing the seminar, sharing appreciations, connecting, and laughing together.

The Cost:  $15 - includes the Seminar, preparation e-mail, and communication suggestions. You can register on-line.
